Commercial Fire Alarm Systems

 

The main purposes of any fire detection and alarm system is to protect life by providing a reliable means of alerting the occupants of a building to an early indication of fire. It is therefore critical that they work as they should, on the rare occasion they may be needed.

BS 5839-1, the code of practice for design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of systems in non-domestic premises, recommends that the use of components, such as manual call points, automatic detectors, control and indicating equipment, fire alarm sounders complies with the relevant product standards for these devices.

It also recommends that the fire alarm systems are designed, installed, commissioned and maintained by competent persons.
